Kashi's grandest ghat, host to the spectacular nightly Ganga Aarti.
Dashashwamedh is the main and most vibrant ghat of Varanasi, close to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Its name recalls the Dasa-Ashwamedha (ten-horse) sacrifice said to have been performed here by Lord Brahma. Every evening, priests perform the grand Ganga Aarti with fire, conch and chant before crowds gathered on boats and steps.
